Parade of Trucks

These pics from the Truck Parade didn't come out as well as I'd hoped due to the darkness.

Tractor Parade

I woke up late this morning, thinking that I had missed the tractor parade. But when I stepped outside on my balcony, it was going on right in front of me. The parade started in Mackinaw, crossed the bridge, and ended in St. Ignace. I'm not sure where it started, but I do know that they went west on Central Ave, turned left on Hiawatha, then turned left on Pond St and headed straight back into town.

Mowed

All this time I've been calling it "That park by the fort"

The Weather Channel was right!

Went for an evening bike ride despite the high winds. It was cool out on our balcony so I had an idea of what the ride would be like. It started out okay, but the dark clouds that began moving over the bridge changed from east to south.

Still Crowded!

A quick bike ride into town this morning revealed that the crowds are not dwindling as the week goes by. Even the Sheplers parking lot was completely full.

At the Cottage

Before going home from my ride, I stopped by the cottage and took this short clip of the waves. They are finally coming from the west again. It had been a while. It's been a bit more breezy here since they changed.

Monday Evening

I took a 2 hour bike ride today and saw some interesting things...

Here they expanded the sidewalk with the same style of brick that they used for the other sidewalks.

This is the area by the fort where all the road work was going on in July. On the left side of the image, you can see the RV parking spaces.

I finally was able to see that big house everyone was talking about.

The parking lot for the ferry to Mackinac Island was almost half full.

Monday Morning

I went to town this morning and noticed a lot of people here. Unusual for a Monday here, but great for Mackinaw City!

Apartment Views

The road running past our apartment (Pond Street), is mostly used by bicyclists and pedestrians. Even the balcony itself seems spacious and with our green rug out there, you can walk barefoot without worrying about splinters.

Evening Walk

This evening, I decided to walk from the apartment to the post office to check our PO Box. I thought the PO Box area was open 24 hrs but the door was locked. It was still a nice walk. I took these pics on my way there. I had never noticed the fountain at the Courtyard Inn.

Cheboygan

Went to Cheboygan today to buy some things from walmart. A Mackinaw blog wouldn't be complete without a pic of the Cheboygan Walmart.

Today at the Sandy Beach

I haven't been to the Sandy Beach in at least 3 years. The wind was coming from the east today so it was warm and calm. As usual, the water was crystal clear.

First Morning in Mackinaw

Actually took this on Monday. Could already tell that it was going to be a warm day (even at 8am!)
